Fusion Fall - Any thoughts on the game and Unity being used?

So has anyone checked out Fusion Fall? It’s currently in Final Beta. This is more of an example of what can be accomplished with Unity. I’m not really interested in the game from a playing perspective, just more of a technical perspective. I know my Nephew would probably get a kick out of playing it.
Any thoughts?

Could you specify a bit more what kind of information you’re looking for?

My son was checking it out over the weekend and for some reason the system requirements are Intel mac only. Unfortunately he is non-intel. I have to wonder why its Intel only when Unity itself is not limited to Intel only, any ideas?

Hmm…this isn’t the first time Cartoon Network has used Unity for game development…but my little brother was playing it the other day and I was shocked he had to install the Unity Web Player Plugin to play it…

The game itself didn’t look very Unity-Like but who knows!

And as for intel only macs…this is VERY interesting…

I ran this on my PC just fine. Maybe it was the fact it’s AMD that it wouldn’t run? I know they wouldn’t let me run the game in Chrome, although there are issues when you do that. You have to use IE or Firefox to play the game in.

I’ve seen some differences with how the physics is handled between the two types of processors. More specifically, some people playing a prototype of mine noticed it. It may have to do with some unpredictable element like that.

Don’t be angry about me but my friends and i looked up some mutiplayer games which are webbased and the unity games are the best! :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope you like that i have linked the most liked games on my site. I will add from times to times. Hmm i know my name is Afro but i come from Germany… but i know a lot of people who very excited now of downloading these games to their apple hardware :stuck_out_tongue:

FusionFall is the most amazing browser-based MMO I’ve seen. It just oozes style and production value and looks like a AAA title.

It seems you guys had some strangeness, but it is still in beta so that’s only to be expected … I have managed to play the game on both PC (AMD64) and Mac (MacBook Pro) with very few problems. That’s both in Safari and IE.

Seriously, FusionFall is one of those incredible games that is going to blow the socks off the competition and show even more of the world how awesome Unity actually is.

Has anyone played Nickelodeon’s new game Big Green Help? It looks sorta similar to Fusion Fall, but I haven’t been able to connect to a server to play yet. It’s exciting to see that two of the big kid’s networks are putting serious effort into their games, moving beyond typical flash offerings.

Nick’s game appears to be built with Virtools, btw.

I only find that en.florensia-online.com/ is Nickelodeon’s Big Green Help Free Online Multiplayer Game Launch. But is it really a browser based game? Or a client mmo?

“Big Green Help must be downloaded and installed from the minisites/biggreen section of nick.com. Once installed, players may access the game from the Big Green Help icon on their computer desktop.”

hmm…

@ this place… one question am I allowed to post important links?

Fusionfall is pretty sweet. I am watching my 9 year old son play it now . He is in training mode. I keep saying to myself- wow this is the same game engine I am using !

I tried playing it for the first time last night, took ages to load the intro movie, watched it (which looked pretty cool) then crasho… safari went boom.

MacPro, 2.8 8xcore, 8G Ram, 10.5.5, 8800GT.

I’m not going to boot a windowz box just to check it out.

It launches in 2 days… I hope they sort it all out.

I tried it on Firefox yesterday, it’s pretty awesome.
play just like a standard downloadable MMO in the net.

i love the fact that they use Unity web plugin  (so i don’t have to download install something just to give a quick try)

I just tried FF3.05 on the same machine and it also crashes after the intro movie.

Does anyone have an email address of something for the FusionFall developers, so I can submit the issue?

Exactly the same thing happened to me. You could report via the request help option here http://help.fusionfall.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=5459

My 8 year old plays it a lot, I never could get keyboard or mouse response in IE, but in Fire Fox it works great. He said it locks up on him every now and again though. I’m on an e6750 core 2 duo, with a 8800 evga card, Vista SP1.

I was wonderring how much of it was actually Unity, and how much was other programs/their own development?

It runs using the standard Unity plugin, so it’s 100% Unity, as far as the client goes. The backend stuff would be custom, of course.
