I can only keep “IT” in submission for the next three hours…
You’re awesome! For sure I’ll review it once I go through it in depth within a couple of days. I just so happen to be working on a sci-fi game and am in the middle of working on the UI, so the timing is perfect. Thanks!
So I’ve been going through the sounds… very cool, and for the most part they’re pretty clean. While I have a home studio and could possibly produce something similar, it would take me a lot of time to make, especially with the variety you have, and so I’d say this is a bargain for the price.
I noticed on some of the samples that the endings have a bit of a click, as if the sample wasn’t ended at a zero crossing point.
For example, under Simple_Beeps/Long_Harsh, SIMPLE_Long_Harsh_0001 and 0003 have smooth endings with no clicks, but in Long_Pure/, all 6 samples have the click on the ending. Is this intentional?
Also noticed this in some of the sweeps, like SWEEPS_0008 has a click on the end, whereas others don’t, like 0004 and 0011.
It would be great if you could clean up the ends of any samples that have that click. I’ve noticed a couple in each folder which stood out to me against the clean endings of the others, otherwise the pack as a whole is excellent. I don’t want to review it on the Asset Store until you get a chance to respond. Thanks again.
Sorry for not replying earlier, as i was travelling in an “internet-challenged” area ( or a internet-sucky area in other words…) and away from the studio. I’m back and I’ve been checking all the sounds.
Actually, some of those clicks are intentional, and some others are not. Sounds like SWEEPS_0008 are not supposed to be that clicky, although they are supposed to stop brutally. Something must have gone wrong during exports…
Others like Long_Pure ( and a few others ) were supposed to sound like a communication that was brutally interrupted, or a new communication arriving and displacing the previous, like you would hear in Sci-Fi movies during hectic action sequences , hence the clickiness and the garbling at the end of certain sounds.
I now realize that it probably wasn’t a wise choice, as it limits flexibility in using those sounds.
I’ll be cleaning up the sounds with non-intentional clicks, as well as providing cleaner and longer fading alternatives for some sounds that had the intentional clickiness. I’m also adding a brand new category of sounds :), that sound even more brutal and chaotic, as if the spaceship computers were failing and going berserk. They will be clearly labeled this time as such.
I expect to submit the new V 1.1 package to Unity before the end of this week.
Thanks for your patience, and I can’t wait to see what you think of the new added sounds.
Version 1.1 is ready and has been submitted to the Unity Asset Store. It should be up in a week or less.
Changes in version 1.1 :
A few sounds with non-intentional clicks have been cleaned up.
Provided new clean and clicky variations for some sounds.
Brand new 39 sounds in a new category “SYSTEM FAILURE” . Sounds of computers and systems failing, going erratic, shutting down. Also includes phrases by female announcers like « All systems shutting down » , « Computer Malfunction « , etc…
You can hear the new sounds on the updated Youtube demo at approximately 00:44 seconds into the video. ( Music soundtrack not included )
Until the new V1.1 becomes live on the Store ( It shouldn’t be long now ), Black Friday is here and price is reduced to $6.50 instead of $10. Get it while it’s hot !
