Is the galaxy Note 2 a good phone for development purposes? I don’t want to have a ton of different devices, but I do want something that is fairly decent spec wise, and has a large screen. Any issues on using this device with Unity? Or is there a better phone with appx the same screen size?
If you don’t mind the samsung’s touchwiz ui, and a bit old gpu it should be ok for dev purposes.
But if you need that big screen there isn’t many options.
Yeah, Galaxy Note 2 is really nice for development purpose. Definitely, you can use that.
I use a Note 2 for my own personal stuff but ultimately it’s probably a bit too powerful for day to day dev work unless you’re not planning on releasing for 6 months. It would give an unrealistic level of performance relative to ‘the normal’ device out in the wild.
Well…I’m having a strange issue with the note 2…a game I’m developing runs at 40 fps average on the galaxy s3 but just at 15 fps average on the note 2…any idea about it?
Strange that you say this, No Galaxy S3 i have had someone test on has made it to the unity splash before crashing, And my note 2 Works like a top.
You can think about the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 as a larger Galaxy S3 that also has stylus support. The handset has a Super AMOLED display (with a Wacom stylus digitiser layer) measuring 5.5 inches and that can render a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The pixel ratio for this device is of 267 ppi. As for imaging, the display has sharp colors and a nice contrast.
The S-Pen (stylus) has support for 1024 levels of pressure, which makes it much better than its predecessor, the Galaxy Note and most of the other stylus-based smartphones out there.
