Gale-Berlekamp Light Game

I recently read about this Gale-Berlekamp Lightbulb game and thought I’d make a version of it in Unity. I spent about 4 hours on it and here it is:

It’s not very exciting, but it works as advertised.

My best score so far is 23, can anyone beat that?

My best score is 404, not found :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah; it should be Lights.html instead of Light.html.
My best is 31

The link is broken. I did read that article you mentioned though. Sounds fascinating (in a nerdy way). Love the comment, “is it for the iphone yet?”.

Sorry, the link works now.

Great simulation. Best score is 27. I like the numbers being on the buttons, so you can quickly figure out how many are on in the row or column.

27

How to play?

You press a button to toggle the state of every bulb in that column/row. You just have to see how few light bulbs you can have turned on. The game records your record low score.

record 23

I get brickwalled at 29. When there’s three in a row in every direction it’s pretty much impossible. Just as Gizmodo wrote, I think the best approach is to “brute force” the game as best as one can. Really addictive game, by the way

I find the rule is difficult.

31 is best score. or 39, can’t remember! (short term memory runs in my family…)
