Game Concept: Engine Toss

What do you think about a game (similar to the ones on iPhone and Android) where you toss paper into garbage cans. For this game, it would be the logos of other game engines that you toss. It could possible use cloth physics somewhere?

Just throwing the idea out there.

Possible logos to throw away:
Adobe Flash, Panda3D, etc.

What do you think?

Well, I think that the other companies wouldn’t like it very much.

Uh, yeah, that might be obvious, but you’re missing the point. They won’t like it and will ask to get your game taken down or sue you for misuse of their logos, especially if you are going to make this commercially.

Tell that to the creator of Paper Toss on Android. You throw iPhones in the garbage.

Perhaps you have a point. Using a model that looks like an iPhone may not be the same as using actual logos.

meh, I wouldn’t spend your precious time in doing something like that, mythscrott. My guess if you do it, nothing would happen! your game wouldn’t become popular enough for them to care! Still… you should really think on ways to turn your idea into something productive!

Unless you get permission from each creator to use their logos, you have no rights using their logo or its likeness referring to their products or services in such a commercial manner. Even if the game is free, games are not just a blog by john doe using the names and likenesses out of possible “fair use”(if that’s even possible, are we allowed to use company names logos etc in a blog?). You take on a whole new beat of legal terms and conditions when you change media types and become your own company producing a game.

As far as games and fun go you’d have to be pretty familiar with game engines and likely a game developer to even get why it would be fun to toss other engines in the garbage. You’d be better off tossing movies stars or something.
