My game “Sanctuary VR” is targeted for Oculus Rift but will be launching on Steam.(currently I am testing builds in steamworks to see everything is fine before launch).
The game build functions perfectly without errors. However when launched from Steam it loads but then crashes when the player changes scenes.
However:
The game runs perfectly if run from it’s install folder with or without admin rights set.
It also runs perfectly using the steam launcher but only if admin rights are set on the game .exe in the install folder by the user.
This is not an ideal situation as I do not want users to have to set admin rights on the .exe or launch from within the game folder. It just looks bad and would solicit a lot of bad reviews I imagine.
Does anyone know if this is a common problem, I thought it might be the steam overlay but this is not the case as even with the overlay disabled it still crashes.
I have all my VR launch options set correctly in steamworks but it still doesn’t work.
The steamworks forum was not much help.
I know that it is some kind of “access rights violation” error, but I am not sure why it is only a problem when launching through the steam launcher and not when the player clicks on the game .exe in it’s installed location.
Anyone have any ideas, anyone seen this before?
