Nice article that’s worth a read:
I really enjoyed this article and honestly wished people would follow this simple advice more. It seems people get bogged down in whining about what engine is the best or what platform is the best or how do I get on this platform rather then actually making games. Honestly if you just get started with something you know and keep your project realistic you will finish it and worry about platforms later. And chances are whatever issues you have with X engine will never actually be an issue or you will find ways around them if you are motivated.
I totally agree. I was blown away recently to learn that Hotline Miami was created with GameMaker Studio, an “engine” that I would have previously turned my nose up at. I believe now more than ever that the tools you use don’t really matter, it has to be all about MAKING YOUR GAME. It’s the result that matters, not how you get there.
Already knew everything he said… and more.
Excellent article, his views on what language to use is spot on, he sounds like he would be great to work with/for, since it appears he doesn’t have a particular bias for anything in general.
