So after acquiring all the knowledge I need to begin using unity ( modeling, sculpting, unity scripting, level design in unity, mechanics etc) . I finally decided to take on a project on 3rd person shooter game just with 3 levelslevels, after making my research I found out that there are a lot of 3rd person shooter game out there. I plan to tell a story in the game ,a story of a military man who his daughter was kidnapped In exchange for something,the military man is to rescue his daughter. How can i make my own unique 3rd person shooter that people will find interesting and what a unique feature should I add to make the game fun to play.
Start with your story, because is just generic. Or I go rather watch Taken film :).
There are two routes I can see, this can go:
One, no one will share genuine unique ideas, if they are making own shooter and keeping to them self.
Or
Two, unique idea will so unique, that potentially will hit you, beyond own capabilities.
Trying to be realistic, but are you sure?
You as game designer, ask yourself, what would make you, to play your game.
Think about hooks.
Here’s a bit of story for a 1st or 3rd person game I was considering but will most likely never get to. So go ahead and steal it if you like it.
You play as a female former Marine, who was kicked out of the military because you suffer from severe psychotic episodes and hear homicidal voices in your head, even though your condition is under control with medication. The story starts with the local street gang pulling a home invasion, abusing and robbing you, and taking your loving support dog and medication.
When you finally free yourself of your restraints the next morning, the voices are back and send you on a path to wiping out the street gang and getting your dog back. You end up going to war with not only the street gang, but corrupt cops they are working with, and a larger national syndicate they are an affiliate of. The voices in your head are constantly egging you on, and you have a special psychotic rage ability which charges up and when activated gives you incredible speed, health, and melee damage.
Whenever you talk to any of them, they are confused you’d do all this for a dog, and don’t understand what you really want.
Is this your first game? You need to make a god dang game before starting to ask creative question. Make a generic game first, to see if you can technically pull it off, then start thinking about creativity.
