Game objects wont render in scene view (but renders in game view)

I created a sphere game object but it won't render. I can see the sphere in the game view but not in the scene view. Only the the pivot gismo and the blue mesh appears in the scene view.

I'm running Unity 3.3 Pro and I installed the MS service pack.

I found my answer.

I had to make sure that default was checked off under the Layers drop-down (in the top right corner).
