This is my first game. It’s a first person platformer based on a grappling hook. The first video is a show-off of the grappling hook mechanic, the second is actual gameplay (the quality is extremely poor because I have a very cheap pc - please feel free to make a clip if you play the game and send it to me, so I can use it instead).

It’s currently in development and I’m looking for some people who would try it out and give me some feedback. There’s a lot of things that I’m well aware of - poor UI (the settings don’t even save right now), too few options in visual settings (number of resolutions), little problems like the common outline on edges when using MSAA, but a lot of these are details. I’d be more interested in more basic issues with the game - does the movement feel good? Is the difficulty appropriate? Etc. Still, I’ll appreciate any feedback.

my internet is too slow to play it right now, but I want to. looks fun from the short video i watched. You can put this on feedback friday in game design to get people to play it.

Seems like third person camera may be a better fit, but that’s just my taste.

What kind of theme will it be?

Thanks for the suggestion, I will.

I definitely considered a normal 3rd person camera and going more towards a Spider-Man/attack on titan style, but it felt like that would require far too much effort to make the world, levels, create a clear objective etc. Here’s a prototype I did, swinging around a city:

A game like that seemed way too difficult as far as controls go, especially if it didn’t allow you to reel-in the rope. The first person view makes aiming a bit easier. And I think I just like it more, makes it feel a bit more immersive in a way I like.

I’m not too sure what the theme is. I guess I would just say it’s a minimalist platformer, with a slightly icy/surreal/alien environment.
