GameObject.Find("theObject").guiText is read-only

I’m trying this:

GameObject.Find("TempScore").guiText = "" + tempScore ; 

I get an error saying that GameObject.Find(“TempScore”).guiText is read-only. How do I get around this?

I tried:

tempScoreText : GUIText = GameObject.Find("TempScore").guiText ; 
tempScoreText = "" + tempScore ;

but it says “Cannot convert to String”.

The guiText is just a reference to the component so yes it is read only but the text of the guiText can be changed:

  GameObject.Find("TempScore").guiText.text = "" + tempScore ;
