GameObject Shrinks when Setting Parent

I noticed when i parent my object, my child object scale changes to 0,0,0. How can i fix this?

		GameObject newParent = GameObject.FindGameObjectWithTag("LaserLocation");
		this.transform.parent = newParent.transform;
	}
}

What’s the scale of the parent transform?
