Still trying to get functionality working on different levels for my simulation. I have an xbox 360 controller(with the GPL driver loaded) so the system recognizes it. Has anybody used this controller successfully in their gaming/sim environments created with Unity? I really, really like the feel of the controller and it works well with other games.
I just can’t seem to get the second analog stick to do anything. Nor do any of the buttons seem to work. if anybody has any thoghts that would be great.
Or perhaps some suggestions as to what gamepad(s) would work out of the box with Unity built applications both on the MAc and under windows.
Thanks again for helping me with all of my questions everyone!
Cheers,
Gary
I went through this process several months ago. The best gamepad I’ve found (compatibility wise) is Logitech’s Rumblepad II.
Upstate New York, eh? Getting any snow?
Thanks and yes we are getting snow! You surf? I haven’t been in a few years. Plus it is just east coast surfing… Not as cool!!!
So the rumble pad works right out of the box? Or did you have to adjust a bunch of the settings in the input manager?
Cheers,
Gary
I messed with Input Manager so much I can’t remember if it’s default settings will work or not. I can vouch that every button and controller on the Rumble pad work though, I’m working on a sim that uses all of them.
One issue that was supposed to be addressed in this latest update but wasn’t( ) is a user controlled input manager for Windows. It’s only available on the Mac.
With a nickname like BigKahuna, OF COURSE I surf! Waves are too big and stormy at the moment (40+ feet on the N Shore) but I got a session last week in shoulder to head high waves.
I’ve been watching the weather over on your side of the planet. I was there the other week and got my first snowboarding session. Pretty cool, had more fun than I thought I would. Next I want to try kite-snowboarding!
BigK,
Still seeking some major help with the gamepad stuff. How did you get your hatswitch working in Unity? I am sorry to bother you about this stuff. I also for the life of me cannot get the right analog stick to work at all. The whole axis thing is confusing. I have buttons figured out, but not the hatswitch or the right analog. BTW using the logitech same as you but without the rumble feature(couldn’t find one in the store around here, they were all out)
Anyway if anybody who has experience with this can help that would be huge!
Thanks,
Gary Haus
Don’t know if this helps, but here’s a screenshot of most of how the input manager is set up (at least the important parts). If I recall correctly, I did a search of gamepad compatibility with Macs in Google and read a thread that some Logitech Gamepads had issues with the Mac. If you set up the input manager correctly and it still doesn’t work, then maybe it’s the gamepad.
Thanks BigK! I don’t have the hatswitch working yet but this has helped to understand the inputmanager some more.
Cheers,
Gary
