Has anyone taken a look at GameSalad? Looks interesting.
Just downloaded and ran their small game from the appstore. It seems like it might be capable for small 2d projects.
GameSalad iPhone publishing was just released. Any thoughts?

I have played around with it and is fun to use. If you do not like working with 3d, this is the program for you. A little too easy to make a game though, if you got good at it you could make some easy cash from the app store.
I have a gut feeling that they will follow Blade3D, subscription model is just not working for it, but they did not learn, or trying to prove otherwise.
While it looks cute and flashy, it brings little to none to the table…
Just discovered this, actually looks kind of interesting.
I downloaded it to play around a bit. I’m not a fan of the interface or the speed of most of the games I played that were created with it (I have not played any iPhone games made with it, however).
I didn’t give it a very in-depth usage test, though. I’ll have to go back and try it again. I love having options to point people to when I get asked questions about teaching young children to develop games. While there is no programming logic involved in GameSalad, the project organization and settings are a good first step.
It looks like an interesting concept but the impossibility to plug in own new functionality is a real deal breaker especially as they use basic level functionality to seperate the $99 from the $1xxx / year license (basic level means stuff that you either have on an iphone app or can skip even thinking about doing it).
actually it took them until the recent 0.6 release to get blending which does at least for me not leave much hope that it is more than a great new app that will ensure “click and play” alike crap-floods. From what I’ve seen even common 2D things are near impossible to completely impossible with it and as you can’t add it yourself you have to wait until they feel like it and thats just nothing I would be willing to invest more than $0 / year into … even Game Maker is worlds ahead of that concept.
If your target is 2D and if you have some background on iphone / c++ / objc then Torque2D for iPhone, even though it needs more effort from your end, offers you a significantly better platform to create a real 2D project with.
