General Explosion methodology.

The particle system works great but I was wondering if the following methodology is the generally accepted way to blow stuff up in a fancier manner:

upon RPG contact create particles
destroy object
instantiate blown up version of object mesh at object spot
apply physics to pieces of blown up object mesh so they can move in the direction of RPG contact.
destroy blown up pieces a few seconds after instantiation.

Does this seem about right?

yea doesnt the tutorial use barrels this way?

im not sure. the ones i saw had lerpz face on the barrel. and then I made new ones that turned red and had holes in them. But yea its not hard to do
