General question about a beginners way into game development

Hey folks!

Just recently I started looking into c# and unity. I learned java a few years a go, but not to a degree where I would say that I’m a professional or something like that. So maybe let’s just say I’m a complete beginner.
I never developed any game or things like that but I’m highly interested in it and have some ideas(guess most of the people have these, tbh) that seem realistic and not too hard to accomplish as far as I can tell.

My question is: What do you think, usually I love the whole solving-problems-part of programming but I as well love to have people to talk about these problems because this always brings up new ideas or approaches on solving the problems. Would it be a good idea to look for a group of “developers”?
Either beginners like me to get some knowledge together or some people with experience so I can learn more from the team?
Or should I just practice for myself with small games in the first place?

I know this always is a matter of perspective. so just tell me your honest thoughts about it.

And, you might have guessed it, I’m not a native english speaker, but I hope it’s at least sufficient.
Best regards

Jannik

If you can find a Unity or game development group in your area, do join them. You will have fun and learn a lot.

If not, then practicing on your own is fine too.

And please post questions like this in the “Getting Started” forum. The Game Design forum is for questions related to game design.

Good luck, and have fun!

Oh you’re right, sorry about that!

Your English is great!

As for the rest:

-You can’t depend on anyone unless you’re paying them.

-Prototype again and again and again. It’s not a game worth pursuing unless you can have fun just interacting with it. This is Nintendo’s approach and they seem to be doing well for themselves. They spent months and months on just Mario’s mechanics before doing anything else.
