Including Demo Project ← yay ![]()
Open Unity (prerelease 3) and run the update check if it doesn’t notify you automatically.
what does the F stand for?
EDIT: f = final release canidate?
A possibility, I guess.
When I first downloaded this latest beta with demo project, I couldn’t find where it was placed on my hard drive. So for anyone looking for this on the Mac, the Bootcamp demo is located here:
/Users/Shared/Unity/Bootcamp Demo

I was expecting a demo project with the old fashioned city scene from the main web page.
Are we going to get that scene too at some point?
Not that the current demo project is not cool, but the city scene looks amazing.
Yes, the entire demo will be made available for download once/after Unity 3.0 is released.
The one in the RC1 build is to wet our appetites ![]()
“anyone looking for this on the Mac”
Where is the Windows version?
The city scene isn’t going to be available, only the “BootCamp” demo.

Sorry, yes, glanced over that part… I meant the full BootCamp demo scene… not the cut down version in RC1.
UT have no plans on releasing the City Scene. Thanks for clarifying Eric.
The rest of the Bootcamp demo will actually only be available as a playable demo on the website. Including the entire project in the installer would be too large unfortunately.
The city scene, Dark Unity, will be available as a standalone player shortly after the release of 3.0.
Is there any concrete info from the Unity team as to when Unity 3 launches now? Summer 2010 is already over.
Summer ends the ~21st of September. This is RC1… Release Candidate 1, which means this could be the release ![]()
We’re not fortune tellers. At this point we’re trying to get it out as soon as possible. Again, unless major bugs are found this will be the released version. If not we’ll move to RC2. But either way, we’re obviously very close.
Not until the 23rd it’s not. A release candidate build was just released; whether there are more builds depends on the level of bugs found in this one.

Ethan,
So i understand the demo project is only for visual purpose.
There wil be no downloadable project with the bootcamp demo with interaction.
I hoped to see how the destructible environment was created en as a showcase some enemies.
The project demo is now more a new island demo with a man that can shoot.
There was also talk of a new iphone demo as shown on the GDC, wil this be available too ?
Is there a reason why this demo’s not be available to your customers ?
Yes, the default demo that is installed with Unity needs to be relatively simple and easy to understand for new users. That is the first reason for not including the industrial section of the demo. The other reason is that the file size is just too large.
The industry section will most likely become available in the future.
No, that demo was solely for GDC and various marketing purposes. It is also not a project that should be shared as it was made with a very early version of 3.0 for iPhone and we had to do quite a bit of hacking. Maybe someday we’ll have time to clean it up and release it as a proper demo.
I have to say this level got my mouth watering… bt then when the Sarge said: “…now download the full version from the unity website” I was wondering to myself “there is more”?
That then raised the question that since Unity allows people to use the demo content in their own works and are including this project with Unity 3… as a demo… what is the “full version” that is on the website… got my head scratching that one.
But it sure is lovely! Found it a bit strange, though that you have such a huge map, complete with trees any everything and a river that runs through it (he he) and then have another, smaller map in the center of it and then restrict people to only that mini-map even though something like 30% of the river is outside the perimeter… Not complaining, it was just weird… then I had a walk through and I didn’t care any more… I just have 1 question:
This demo project is really intense. Is this actually a ‘demo for new people’? Sorry, the previous posts didn’t make that clear enough for me…
What do you mean by intense? There is a lot of code in it (compared to the Island Demo), but the layout is really simple so new users can navigate around, get their feet wet, and dig into the more complicated stuff in the project later if they want to. The industry section of this demo would probably overwhelm most new users when first opened.
