Getting Maya Animation to Work

Hello, my name is Josh and I’m with the indie studio Team KAIZEN. We’re currently working on a fighting game tech demo and have gotten one of our fighters, Haya, to work in Unity with pre-made animations. Our custom animations for her, however, is a different story, below is the trouble one of our crew is having:

My hope was to apply the successful fbx animation to unity-compatible-haya within Maya and try to export that to Unity. I’ve tried to follow videos myself and I just don’t understand how to do it. I rarely work with animations at all. The FBX animation imports into Unity but it breaks when applied to Haya. Haya can accept pre-existing Human IK animations so it has to be something with the animation file.

Does anyone know what we might be doing wrong? We’d be VERY grateful if someone could give us a head’s up on what we’re goofing on…

Thanks
Josh

What does break mean?
So the animations are being created on the exact same rig in Maya, that is currently in Unity and accepting other humanoid rig animations?
Why not just create the custom animations on the rig and use that as the character in Unity? And retarget any other humanoid animations to that rig in Unity?

More info is needed to help here.
