It’s a mobile game.
Thanks !
that looks great already…
maybe Diner-sign could have more brighter light and some bloom?
Do you have UI with this or is this just a “click/tap to continue” screen?
Let us see it with the UI and what’s your game?
Like @mgear suggests make the sign a bit brighter and use bloom to make lights pop.
I think your darks are too dark imo, you can take care of that in many ways, the two ways I love doing is either doing “back lighting” with weak directional lights (don’t know if it’s a good idea on mobile though) and/or using the post color balance
Hi, thanks for the suggestions !
I will do this and yes it’s too dark.
For the lighting i’ve tried to do a night scene so yes for the dinner scene it’s will be good…
Yep you’re right the dinner sign with bloom would be pretty cool …
Thanks
The dumpsters could use a slight bevel on the corners. The sharp angles really sticks out.
What is the story being told here?
This alley has a lot of dumpsters? The game is empty except for a lot trash?
I’d think about core theme of the game as player experiences it and try to capture that versus just showing a generic b-roll shot.
It’s the menu of my zombie game
what I mean is that this is one of the first things player see in the game and will see it everytime they start the game. So it’s like a first impression.
You could use this to reinforce some themes of the game. With that in mind, the theme I am getting is “abandoned alley with strange amount of dumpsters.” That doesn’t suggest anything that’s going to stick with me or enhance the total experience of playing the game.
If this is a game all about empowerment and kicking zombie ass, maybe we see a scene of heroes violently bashing a mob of zombies?
If its horror maybe we see mother trying to crawl out from underneath car with zombies biting her legs.
Doesn’t have to be so blatant, just examples.
P.S. - also consider fundamentals of art theory - if player was actually walking through this alley in game, we are moving from dark area to light area. Typically that makes us feel safer. Is moving into safety zone the theme you want to convey right off the bat? It’s not something any redditer is going to articulate but nonetheless subtle visual things like this will effect the overall mood player gets from the experience.
What if we saw the heroes of our game standing within the safety of a street light, all huddled back to back with bats and guns at the ready. But the lamp is flickering, and beyond in the dark we see the glint of sinister eyes - totally surrounding our heroes who aren’t looking so fearless.
From a scene like that you get a stronger sense of theme and story and character - it’s just more fun and interesting.

Since its a menu, make sure that the menu text, easily stands out and does not blend in with your enviroment, or the bright parts of it. Otherwise, it will be difficult to see.
