gmax importing?

I know gmax is a bit old, but people are still using it and hey it’s free.
Is there any way to get a model out of gmax and into Unity with animation/textures?
Obj exporting is fine for just the mesh and it’s texture, but nothing more.

well with obj export from gmax you can import that obj into iclone and animate your model then export it as an FBX file with animations and then import it into your game engine of choice! But im not sure if its allowed for commercial under gmax rules??? you must check that out!

Well i have done some reading for you …you cant use anything created in gmax for commercial use!

If you want free please rather use blender. I know it’s not the 3DS Max UI but it’s capable of so much more than GMax. Hell - IIRC GMax does not even have pelt mapping for UV Mapping. That fact alone would be an absolute dealbreaker for me. No matter how free to use it is.

Well it turned out I qualify for a student liscence, so I grabbed Maya instead. Loving it so far!
I don’t make games commericially, only for fun as a hobby. Maybe when I’m older I might make a commericial game.
