I am a beginner who is going to create a hack and slash game on the iOS platform. I dont want it to be an rpg, instead I want it to be a game where one hero goes against a gigantic army of monsters and unleashes crazy combos and awesome weapons to defeat the hordes of monsters, I want the monsters to come onto the map wave by wave, and I also want to figure out how I could customize the character. Instead of doing a full person, I would like it to be a cartoony polygonal hero. (like pocket rpg). It would also be nice if I could add multiplayer to the gamr
How do you guys think I should go about this? (What should I do first, second. etc.)
How long do you approximate it will take for me to make this type of game?
Thanks in advance,
Sharkmaster
Are there any codes and assets that may aid me in this process?
Or maybe there is a tutorial that I can watch.
Where should I animate my characters?
I enjoy blender for my modeling and animation. Maya and 3DS Max is also solid.
This tutorial tells me how to make a hack and slash rpg. But I want a waves of monsters to attack the character instead of an rpg.
(Dynasty Warriors Style)
Same principles. Pick and choose from the list. Movement, attacking, camera, all could be used.
But then how should I go about the wave and multiplayer features?
And what about the weapon strike combinations?
First worry about moving your character. Don’t get ahead of yourself just yet. There are very few comprehensive tutorials that will give you everything you need to know. They are to teach you the workflow and terminology. It’s your burden to learn from them and then apply it to your own work.
This stuffs hard. You’ll find google and the search features of this forum are your friends.
What coding language do you suggest I try?
JavaScript?
Try both, use the one that makes the most sense to you.
Personally, I go with C#. It applies to more things than just Unity so it makes sense in a long run kind of view in case you decide game dev is not your thing.
I hear JavaScript is generally easier to pickup though. Im not much a programmer myself. Much more of an art guy. I do well with PlayMaker.
