Google's Android

Pretty interesting and looks like it will soon be competing with Apple’s IPhone OS. This is a video aimed at developers, has a simple example of Quake running on the phone.

A interesting side note is google is giving away grants to developers that build stuff for their OS. They have set aside 10 million in grant money.

Too bad they chose Java for the SDK. Looks like a nice platform nonetheless.

I actually took a break from Unity development to make stuff for the Android challenge for about four months at the beginning of the year. Despite some annoying bugs and my lack of programming experience, I found it fairly easy to develop for and I also found I was able to hone my skills so that I am more confident when programming in Unity than I was before.
You can see previews of the stuff I’ve made for Android here:

That said, with Unity and the iPhone out there, I don’t intend on returning to Android development until details on their next contest are announced.
