Got the dreaded "GetThreadContext failed" error. Wat do?

So I’ve been doing some college work in unity with no problems and switching between my two computers just fine. A few days ago Unity on my desktop crashed on a project (nothing much, just a sprite and a sample animator) and after that time refused to run properly.

So i did my research and somehow managed to get Unity working again by switching my code editors, blaming that monodevelop thingy bundled with the engine. Apparently, i was wrong.

Unity works just fine up until project wizard: when selecting a project to load or creating a new one it spits out this:

GC Error

My desktop is running Windows 8.1 and I am not using ANY antivirus software. Does anyone have a workaround for this? I’ve been stalled for three days now and it’s not fun at all.

Might want to contact Unity support directly, including all the information you’ve shared here. I didn’t quickly find any info beyond “try XP compatibility mode” and “disable XYZ antivirus”.

press>>“window+r” (key)>>write"prefetch"on it>>then delete all…!!
