All other things being equal, can anyone tell me what’s more expensive in terms of CPU-GPU load -a Sphere with Emissive material or a Spotlight?

The reason there’s no straight reply here is because the results vary dramatically based on how many lights, objects, and what complexity your shaders have.
So you won’t get an answer to that question that makes any sense. Mix it up more with forward vs deferred and different GPUs.
Just test it on target hardware and decide. That is what any decent developer does.
