GPU crash on start up when using Vulkan

Hi all, I need to set the render engine to Vulkan for a project, but there is a GPU crash on start up. Strangely, if the Unity editor is open when I run my standalone build, the editor will crash.

Looking at player.log, the crash occurs here:
> InitializeOrResetSwapChain 1920x1080 hdr=0 samples=1
> Crash!!!

This has been happening during every build ever since switching build targets and switching render engine target to Vulkan. I have deleted and rebuilt the library folder, done a “reimport all” and deleted the GI cache. I’m not sure what other basic “cleaning” there is that I can do.

I am running Unity 2019.4.39f1, and have tested on GPUs running both Vulkan 1.3 as well as Vulkan 1.1, and I have run the build on both Linux and Windows.

I have just installed the Vulkan SDK from their website, though I’m not sure if it’s even involved in Unity’s build process, and I have also removed the Unity Splash screen because I heard that has caused issues with Vulkan on Linux before.

I am also experiencing this error in the editor:
> There are more uavs (12) than the maximum supported (8) in ComputeShader ‘GPUFrustumCulling’ kernel ‘GPUFrustumCulling’.

It happens during builds but it does not prevent them from completing

I did not, I was trying to update an old version of the project and eventually gave up. I am a porting engineer, so I was just trying to port an old version of a game. Since I couldn’t find a fix for this, I just waited for the developer to come out with a new version, which included a complete remake of the graphics pipeline and tons of shader changes. That version worked without issue. Wish I could help, sorry.
