Attached is an image that shows a couple of graphics issues on an old graphics card (geforce 6400 laptop card).
The tree draws fully bright (fullbright objects are a problem for us on a number of old graphics cards).
The shadow map just has garbage in it - it is either fully black or has a pattern to it like in the image.
Can I put these issues down to driver bugs on old cards or could they be Unity render bugs?
If it happens only on specific cards, then it looks like a driver bug.
In a perfect world we would just wait for the hardware manufacturers to fix their driver bugs, but in the real world we end up writing tons of workarounds to driver bugs, so that you guys (almost) never have to worry about low level stuff like that.
So we would really appreciate if you could send us a bug report with the scene attached and a description on what hardware does the bug manifest (if the hardware is different than the one you’re sending the bug from, otherwise we’ll just get this info automatically in the report).
Thanks - no doubt it is. I’ll put together a bug report if I have time but it’s part of a large project - we only just noticed the problem on some very old cards.
On the webplayer btw.
The screenshot is from a laptop with Geforce Go 6400 (don’t think this card has had any proper driver updates available - at least not for years - but it is a shader3 capable card)
We also got fullbright objects on a SiS 661 FX card !! - but that old PC should not even still be running!
