Graphical error - black circular pattern

I’ve been getting this visual error when playing games in the Unity editor.

Computer

  • 2018 13" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar
  • Intel Iris Plus 655
  • 8GB RAM, 2.3GHz i5
  • Mojave 10.14.6

Fixes tried

  • Resetting RAM, NVRAM, SMC, etc.
  • Erasing SSD and reinstalling OS
  • Using a different version of Unity
  • Took in to Apple Store, where they stress tested the machine and found no issues

Notes

  • Only happens in this one scene, of this one project

  • The scene, after a brief set-up, is just a spinning sphere. Nothing intensive.

  • Error takes up entire Unity window, even if game is not running fullscreen

  • Any window currently over Unity also has the error

  • Does NOT happen in the same scene on Windows 10

  • Does NOT happen in fullscreen, borderless or windowed video games. Checked on both minimum graphics settings and maximum graphics settings.

  • Has happened when computer was stone cold, so not heat related

Any suggestions?

(Rather than lots of new posts, I’ll just add things I’ve tried here)

Does this happen in any other projects, a new project, or outside of Unity in any games?

So far, I’ve been unable to replicate it outside of that particular scene in that particular project.

I have had it happen while running the game NOT in fullscreen (the effect still took up the entire Unity window), and happen a second or two after closing the game (again, still took up the entire Unity window).

Apple Support want me to take the machine in for a display replacement, but that really doesn’t seem like the issue.

Also worth noting, that once it starts happening, any windows above the Unity window (say Safari) also have it.

I’ve updated the original post with more information.
