Graphics like Moon: Remix RPG Adventure/SaGa Frontier?

Hi, anybody have an idea as to how to make graphics like the following pics, especially the sprite work:

Games like Final Fantasy 7 and Legend of Mana work as well… games with those cute-sy but detailed sprites and pre-rendered backgrounds. I’ve been using Aseprite for my sprites, but they don’t have the polish or detail that these above sprites have… any ideas to where I can look or what programs to research? Thanks.
