Gravity Beats (AdMob vs Unity ADS)


Hey dear fellow developer, how have you been?

I’m about to drop Gravity Beats into the market and was thinking if unity ads is worth a shoot.
What do you think? Did you try to compare those two nowadays?
Guess I will add both and will play around them server-side to see how it works.
Will really appreciate any feedback you guys have.

Still looking for the ads comparison if anyone has any info please share.

Gonna start tomorrow with AdMob, and report on how it goes later.

In game we have two conditions to show ads
1 - if player crashed 3 times
2 - on level end
Was thinking on using both, unity ads (video) on level end
and admob on crashes, donna wanna flood peoples with videos much.

Guess will try this composition some time.

Looks like a great game, is it possible to unlock the golden features without paying? I don’t like the idea of pay more = higher score/easier game.

Yes Serinx! It’s possible to get all the neat features ingame for absolute free.
Just by basically playing the game. It will take you more time of course, but eventually
you’ll be there. I will also throw few promo-codes for the golden ship,
here, tomorrow, after release, so you can have smoother gameplay faster.

Looks awesome! Reminds me of old games such as rocketz, wings , Crazy Gravity! Love those types of games

Oh, man. Those were amazing times. I totally fell in love with Crazy Gravity, so Gravity Beats is kind of it’s conclusion.
I was waiting for CG2 for so long, guess too long… But I didn’t try the rockets! Someone already mention the similarity
of them, sadly I missed that game those days.

Interesting. Will definitely try it. Also another examples that peoples have find similar to Gravity Beats were games Thrust (DOS) and Sub-Terrania (SEGA). I checked the other one and it really has interesting mechanics - it allows you to shoot. I wasn’t even thinking on how to add shooting before I saw that, cuz lets be serious - we have a gravity and the aiming sux when you start to fall. But they did it very smart way - RAILS. Basically you press the button and attach yourself to them, then you can move into directions like left, right and spin your ship with up/down, as well as shoot, without falling. Amazing solution.

TL;DR

  • Levels from 1 to 10 also 14 and 16, were redesigned and simplified compared to v 1.051
  • Everyplay support. You can now record replays, watch and share them with the community.
    To turn ON replay recording goto OPTIONS and make sure you checked the “REPLAYS” check box,
    after you did so, it will prompt you with another window about when to stop the recording
    on crash or on the level end. If you choose on crash it will still record till the level
    end if you didn’t crash. But it’s the best options for all those best moments that we always missing.
    -In menu you can now find YouTube button that will lead you to the currently featured video,
    or if you already started some level than it will lead you to the level you are currently in.
