Grey Screen in unity3D v. 5.3.1f1

I see gray screen Instead start screen When I launch Unity3D. How fix it?

I’m not sure, but this may be related to the black screen on startup that some people, including myself have encountered. You could try this fix and see if it works:

That is a known issue, try creating this folder:

mkdir -p ~/.local/share/unity3d/Packages

If that doesn’t work try installing the ‘npm’ package.

Experiencing the same issue on Unity3D v.5.3.1f1, Xubuntu 14.04.

Creating that Packages folder and installing NPM (v 1.3.10) or Node (v0.10.25) does not seem to fix it for me. Any thought? Do I need a different NPM/Node version or?

Update!

Tried updating NodeJS to v0.10.41 and NPM to v1.4.29 via the Nodesource PPA ( How To Install Node.js on an Ubuntu 14.04 Server | DigitalOcean ) and Unity3D seems to work now.

I can confirm that creating “~/.local/share/unity3d/Packages” fixed the grey dialog issue for me as well.
