ground textures terrain

Depending on the textures the tiling sometimes looks really repetitive on a distance. It seems there is a control for this, base map distance. But when you use a low value for this the textures look really blocked. Is there another way to handle this? Is it possible to use custom textures for the mipmap levels? And, if so, what is the distance between each mipmap level?

At the moment, there is no (simple) way of setting individual mipmaps manually. Have you done the usual photoshop tricks (e.g. low passing) to make sure your texture not only tiles, but also tiles nicely?

Really hope this will be possible in future releases! And what about the difficult way? Are you saying it is possible?

Right now I am still experimenting and used the grass/rock texture from the island demo. It looked good at the default tiling setting but then I noticed how big it was from a close distance and changed tiling from 12 to 3. From nearby it looks perfect and realistic now but on a distance the pattern is too obvious. I rather have it blurred from about 100 meters and even solid green from about 300 meters distance.
