Gui tool

Is there a GUI tool?

have you seen this?:

GUIX

$$$
There is project for future released of Unity that will fix that issue.

yeah, if yours is going to be free it will be awesome

Good luck

I’d be interested in hearing from anyone (not inolved with teh development of GUIX) who has used GUIX as far as its value.

I own it since it was first released (its now at 1.4.0++ with many new things added) and it has payed back its money many to many dozen times.

Doing UI in unity normally requires that you start with planning and creating a state system, otherwise large gui parts don’t work at all.
Once thats done you implement the ui and then you will have a pretty lengthy “manual code positioning” session to place the gui.

with guix you just draw all stuff, move them forward or backward, let it generate the code and fill the event handlers with the functionality and you are done.

they are actually offering a trial so you could give it a go

I own it, haven’t downloaded a new release since it was released, which reminds me that I need to get my data from it and download it again. It was easy enough to use when I did use it, so I need to see what updates have happened.

Hi,

As mentioned check out the trial. The only way to know if it’s for you is to try it.

There are so many types of projects people are creating with Unity that we can’t build it to be everything for everyone. If it helps you work faster, that’s great, if not we sincerely thank you for considering it.

Here’s the direct link to the demo download page:

As a note, we have some very interesting things planned for the near future as well.

Take care,

Yes, we at Unity Tech are planning on adding visual GUI development tools into Unity. But to be very honest, that’s not coming in the near term and you have to look at the (relatively low) cost of GUIX and compare that to the potential time you might save. Now calculate how much you think you’re worth per hour and see what’s really more expensive, and I think you might find GUIX to be worth it. So don’t just look at the cost of GUIX and write it off, if it saves you time then always know that your time is in fact worth something and calculate that into your decision.
