Hello, everyone!
We are Many-Worlds, a small augmented reality and mobile apps company based in Spain.
We have been working for the last year in a new concept or touristic app (a serious game). After a lot of hard work, it has been released and it is available in the app store, and it will be soon in Google Play.
It is called GUIDEO.
It has been fully developed with Unity 4, so I came here to share with you some of its coolest features:
Fully integration with Open Maps
This is one of the features we are proudest of. We have developed an asset for Unity 4 to fully integrate dynamic tile download, dynamic routing on demand and tile visualization as render texture. We had to implement an impressive memory management in order to have it working on mobile devices!
Real-time Geo-positioning
Route management system
It allows to add new touristic routes all over the world. Each route is formed by points of interest, which can have multimedia information and are also geo-located.
In-app purchase
Guideo is free, and so they are some of the available routes. Anyway, we have also integrated an in-app purchase system for IOS and Android.
Multi-language
Guideo is currently available in english, spanish and german, but the platform is able to support any other language. We only require that the routes content is written in the desired language.
Point of interest visualization as floating layers over the camera background
We got this by using GPS, compass, accelerometers and gyroscopes (when available). Points of interest are superimposed on top of the camera image, guiding the user to the location of the POI.
Multimedia content in each point of interes
Of course, all the points of interest have video, images, audio and text, and we have fully management for a lot of file formats. Dealing with file system to manage such a huge amount of data was also a big challenge.
Markerless augmented reality using Pointcloud by 13th Lab.
This is one of the coolest features. We have included the Pointcloud library, so people can take a look at the world as it was centuries ago, or see some historic o legendary characters, explosions, UFOs, etc. It has been added as an additional content in some POIs.
And of course, cool 3D artwork!
Sorry, but no more images are allowed per post.
Visit our web to find some more info (only in spanish by now, sorry).
I hope you enjoyed it! Any comments will be appreciated!
