Gun hardware + Unity support?

Wondering if a gun such as the TimeCrisis Arcade is working with Unity?
Any plugin or already available hardware working with Unity?

Most important is the gun is a bit heavy and I hope to get a mobile part on the top when shooting.

Just missing the Time Crisis series, even the 5th title is announced for March, but always wanted to work on a such game. I would like to do this at home.

Any idea?

Or if any high skilled programmer willing to write a plugin?
I can handle the gamedev + design anyway…
…but dunno the plugin things, its a bit too low programming level to me :(… (willing to learn ^__^)

Thank you !

I saw one on kickstarter a while back that got funded: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/356540105/delta-six-a-new-kind-of-game-controller

Could maybe mount a sixsense stem controller to a gun… or a wiimote with motionplus (I have used this for controlling a flashlight in a rift project and it’s decent)

edit:: reading through the link you posted, the guns are $99 each? You should do stem controllers for that price.

wow it looks awesome.

But it doesn’t look like a gun right?
http://sixense.com/wireless

The time Crisis one, are really nice to play with. The best controller for shooting games I guess…

Yeah the stem doesn’t look like a gun but it’s the most precise motion controller on the market, and an entire team that already made a unity plugin.

I don’t see why the gun you linked wouldn’t work in unity as is…? It’s basically a wireless mouse and has a configuration utility to calibrate it to your monitor… http://www.hkems.com/files/1108/TopGun_III_eng.pdf

In Unity pulling the trigger should send left mouse button, they have a key mapping set of properties where you can set mouse control and buttons.

Eh? just this?

I just sent an email to order one. the paypal thing is not really working…
I’ll update the thread soon as I get the hardware and on first Unity test ^__^!.

Thanks for the advises buddy

From what I can tell, those guns work by emulating the mouse. So there’s not really much to do to make it work with Unity. Just accept mouse clicks as gunshots and you’re good, I think.

In searching for info about that gun, though, I found that the trigger is rather weak and can be broken. Might want to do some research into what others say is the best gun to buy.

I just bought it :

It seems I should get it during the next week.
It’s a first try anyway and worst the 99 bucks.

Anyway, I’ll update the thread soon as I’ll switch on dev and have something to show.

Good luck! I hope it works well for you. If it does, I might look into one, too. I’ve always like shooting gallery games.

Received the Gun today and getting driver issue =_=…

Thing I didn’t care when I ordered it is Windows 8.1 is not mentioned in the driver section…
There are also extra step to do since the driver are not signed. but it doesn’t work.

I sent back en email to them and now waiting for an answer.
Also started a new thread with the issue :

Never worked with the particular product but I am not sure how it works in wireless mode to the PC. Not sure what level of coding would be required if it is not working with Mame. It appears most light guns that work with Mame use absolute mouse mode for (x/y) as someone mentioned previously. Is it critical that you have wireless light gun vs a wired light gun?

It will be interesting to see how well the EMS product works. Please continue to post on what you discover.

You can try something Arcade Guns http://www.arcadeguns.com which supports 4 guns per sensor. It does work with Unity (using Joystick mode on Win/Mac/Linux). It is really easy to work with when in Unity using with Rewired (Unity Asset Store - The Best Assets for Game Making) from the asset store too. Arcade Guns works with Window 8.1 and 7 and it should work with Windows XP since that is what the original driver supported. Never tried Arcade Guns in absolute mouse mode (x/y) but it is supported since their main market in Mame.

Another one:sunglasses:

Or… (OEM Module )

They are the same device basically as ULTIMARC’s AIMTRAK. See this thread called “ARCADE GUNS VS ULTIMARC AIM TRAK” at this URL.

In short summary

ULTIMARC says “… Arcadeguns are approved resellers of our complete guns and internals.”

Topic is a bit oldish but wanted to update the thread with a game I made with Unity using the gun I bought a while ago.
It really worked a charm!

It’s a trailer made in office (Okinawa!) a colleague playing the game while I record the movie

Enjoy!

Nicely done!

Does it bother you at all that in the last 2 years, we’ve suddenly got more VR gear than lightgun gear, and that this would have a wider audience if you put it on the Vive?

Any plans to put it on the Vive?

Ahah! Job in this office end in about one month and hoping for an office dealing with VR for my next job!!

Having the Occulus2 on my desk in office and played a bit with it during the past 2 years but nothing really interesting since the office didn’t want to dev with.

Now tried the PS4 VR and Vive recently and it was just totaly insane and awesome!! ^_^.

Game is available on Smartphone since my boss wasn’t interested to insert more cash in it.

Ah, that’s really too bad. Hopefully the next job will let you do something awesome in VR!

I downloaded the game to take a look at it, but without the light gun or VR, I have my doubts about liking it. We’ll see.

Well its just a tap tap tap game on smartphone!

Yeah, and I generally like those… Sadly, this one performed so badly that I couldn’t play it on my Nexus 6p. ;( I even turned down all the options and it would still warn me that it was unplayable. Repeatedly. Oh well.

Ah ah yes, super memory consuming!!
Try it on iphone 6, it works a charm! ^_^…
