Halo component doesn't show against background texture with color

I have a 2D project. Some of my sprites have a Halo component, which showed against no background. However when I added a background texture + color fill, they stopped showing while the sprites themselves were still visible. Sprites have Z=10, background texture has Z=15, and everything is in the same layer. Any pointers would be appreciated.

I’m having this issue right now. Anyone have a solution? Been stuck on it for about a week.
