Hand Painted Textures - Questions

Hello everybody.

I am working on some hand painted textures and I have some questions.

First, I was wondering if anybody would be interested in purchasing hand painted textures? I plan on doing several types of bricks/stone, wood, various types of vegetation, and so on.

Secondly, what do you think is a fair price?

Below is an example of a brick texture I have done.

Damaged:

The original size is 1024x1024.

I wouldn’t use them but they look really nice. I prefer to make my own (sucky) textures. I’m sure someone would pay for them.

That’s awesome-looking. I think you’re going to have a hard sell unless you can come up with a lot of them, though, because this is a unique art style, and isn’t going to mesh with much.

I agree with Jessy, this is a type of art style that a whole game needs to be based around in order for you to experience a proper environment.

well if there would be alot of different types of these i would like to by them as a package if the price is alright.
so if you have different ones, may also wood walls, i would be interested.

I really like it as lot. And your stile is good and unique, but as mentioned above you will have to make a whole game with them…so you will need more than a lot of them…Thats the good part..... the other part is, that there are very many textures out there, many of them free. Try to go to www.3dstudio.com or www.turbosuid.com to get an overview. I have about 200 seemless textures out there for sale and I sell a single one for 5 dollar and a package of 12 textures for 10 dollars, but they are only made from photographs. I also have a handpainted bump map and I only sell a few a month. But it is fun to make them, and I also need them for our games, so its no wasted time.
But don´t do it for the money, do it just for fun.
All the best to you!

This one I made from a photo in less than 2 minutes, but its not nearly as nice as yours …

I don’t mean to be rude but that photo texture filtered through photoshop looks aweful.

Origin: I need 10-12 hand-painted textures. PM me your prices, one price where I retain the rights to the textures and can do whatever I want with them, and one where I simply purchase a copy of them.

Oh, and the following types I need are (that I can think of at the moment); 2-3 different grass, 2 different rock (specific color palette, I will supply example), sand, 2-3 different dirt/soil textures, pebbles texture… um, I’m sure there is more.

not rude , just honest

Hello again.

Thank you all for your input. I was certainly planing on doing quite a few, and upload in packs. I thought, at least until I have a large collection, people could potentially use them as a base to work off of…or something…

@zemog86- I am working on some wood planks and other stone/brick wall textures, and I plan on doing all sorts of other materials. Might take me a while, I was mostly just gauging interest in hand painted textures.

@Eva Maria- I certainly wouldn’t be doing this if I wasn’t having any fun, however I wouldn’t mind making a bit of extra cash while having fun.

@Alienchild- PM sent.

thats great, i am happy to purchase them, would be great if you can send me a pm if you have a pack available :=)
also i have a great wish for your future textures - keep this toony style like the example above, thats really great.

Thanks!

my 2c

I don’t like when I see a pack of textures and they are all the same with a few variations. like pack of 20 textures but 19 are red brick. That does not help me. I like to see packs that are like Pack of 50 and 10 are terrain (few rock, few grass, few dirt, all different), 10 are building exterior, 10 are interior, 10 are hard materials, 10 are soft, you get the idea. Loads of variety. Don’t make 10 interior wall textures that all are the same except for color. That is silly. Try to make each one different than any others but obviously make all the art styles match.

Now if you had that variety pack like that then sold a brick wall pack and a grass pack that are basically more of the same from the main pack that would be cool. Just make sure in the asset store or wherever you sell them that you link back to or mention that variety pack.

Just telling you what I would like to see as a consumer. Hope it helps.
