Hand-painted wooden plank TUTORIAL!

Well, it took some time but I finally uploaded them ALL today using my colleges fast internet speed HAHAHUHA!

MUST READ: I only did one plank and copied it… this was done for time, the point was to get the process across.

I’m just going to upload them and then comment them all with an explanation of each part when I can.
I have to link them as FOR some reason Unity community doesn’t support Veoh videos.

Here is the end result:

And Here it is tiled:

Part 1.
In part one of the tutorial series I take you through some of the basics of photoshop and
geting you started in painting in photoshop.

I will first take you through a quick guide of new documant presets which will take a few
seconds off your work.

I then choose a background and talk abit about color theory,I will talk about value, saturation
and hue.

Once I’ve done that I talk about tool presets, This is a very important part of painting that saves
a lot of time and not enough people know about.

That ends off part one.

Split into parts because I pressed the stop button instead of the pause button and didn’t think that I needed to make it one video.

I hope to see some improvements from everyone and hope that it helps.

Enjoy The Videos and picture that sexy man on the other side speaking to you with his amazing South African/ English accent and the slurring of words because I did it at a late…ish time in my spear time.

Micah.

This looks great! Good Job! And thx 4 sharing! Can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us.

I’ve actually been looking at a few handpainted tutorials lately because of a thread on this forum. Thanks for sharing!

henry96: Thank you.

wccrawford: No problem.

If anyone needs any advice that I haven’t mentioned shoot away!

Thanks for sharing this!
I’m sure i will find it very useful!

will watch it when im home

Same. Thanks op!!

Holy crap. Nice tutorials mate.

Just thought I should mention that the bevels are tooooo large hahaha. Thats life for ya :L
But it’s the concept behind it :stuck_out_tongue:

You are quite literally a saint, just finished watching part 3, I think ill watch them all, then go back to the start and watch them again but follow along. Thanks Micah, You should do these more often on youtube  ‘Wood’ ‘Stone’ ‘Roof’ that kind of stuff would be great.

Thank you very muchly for these tutorials, looks like I’m going to save them for off line

Dang, just went to download the videos and part 6 is showing as “can’t find the video you’re looking for” when I click the link :(. Any chance of a re-upload?

This link is broken: My Veoh and the last video doesn’t show up under your profile.

Also, what codec are these done with? The downloaded avi’s won’t play for me… so I need to grab the right one.

Yer I got some copyright email… with no explanation of what it is that was copyright
So I will try and upload it again, soonest monday XD

Im just using the codecs that came with windows 7. So not to sure why their not showing up.

Thanks, that’s stupid weird that they would claim a self-made video like that violated a copyright :(. As far as codec I’ll have to fiddle around, must be something on my end then. Looking forward to seeing part 6 back online!

If someone did download part 6, any chance of an FTP upload somewhere?
