Happy New Year Everyone!

I’m in New Zealand, so happy new year has already ticked around for me.

My game dev goals for this year are to release my game on mobile and the F2P desktop version on multiple stores and test as many user acquisition avenues as possible.

I’d also like to get really good at understanding player data, using both GameAnalytics and UnityAnalytics, and A/B test with that data to improve my player LTV and pursue the goal of turning my racing game into a viable F2P business, that can sustain me with a full time salary so I don’t need to work a full time job.

I’m also excited for Unity’s partnership with DeltaDNA, which I consider the best analytics platform out there for games, so will be interesting to see what comes of this partnership.

What are your goals and aspirations for your games in this coming year?

Happy new years to you too!

My game dev goals are somewhat modest this year:

  1. Release a major update for Platformer PRO
  2. Release at least one of the near complete casual mobile projects I have floating about
  3. Build a polished vertical slice of one of the bigger games I’ve been toying with

Happy new year!
i have two projects on the back burner that I have been wanting to flesh out. One is perfect for leveraging DOTS, the other is more experimental with some vfx concepts I want to explore. My plan right now is to spend next week on one and the following week on the other. After that which ever one is still exciting I will complete this year.

My goal is to “finish” my current project I’m 3 years into. :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s other smaller projects I’ve been wanting to work on, but I’ve been putting them off to work on this big one and realize now that was a mistake. But I’m all in on the sunk cost fallacy at this point.

Happy holiday time indeed. It’s cold outside and rains frequently so I’ve found myself back in front of my computer. As far as goals, mine are vague at best. I’m one of those who see my work in unity as something other than work. My entire life as a child I was always drawn to games with level editors. Exitebike on the NES was a real time killer for me. Then it grew from there. All of my favorite games were ones I could build new things in. As I got older I grew somewhat frustrated with the limitations of the level designers. I got brave one day about 5 years ago and thought to myself, “I’ve got some Basic and Pascal experience from my days in school. Why dont I just make a game from scratch.” I had never even looked at object oriented programming or anything later than Turbo Pascal in the 90s but how hard can it be right? This thought led me to the path of unity, a toy to play with that has the functionality I’ve been missing. I started in with no expectations of being the next big money solo indie dev or even really releasing anything. I was just looking for a good time.

I found it. Wow I can do pretty much anything I want with this if I just learn how. I spent about a year and a half tinkering, learning and generally having a good time until life got the better of me. I found myself in a failing marriage working a job 14 hours a day 6 days a week with a daughter rapidly growing. I had no time for anything enjoyable. I kept my head down, working hard, making ends meet, and mostly hating life. Unity of course went dormant. I had no time or will for the things that brought pleasure.

This brings us to a year and a half ago when something in me snapped. I looked around and decided it was time for a change. I quit my job, got divorced, and got my life back together again. I now work a nice 40 hour a week job that pays well. I come home to a peaceful place. I moved my elderly mother in because she didn’t need to be alone, my daughter lives here full time and all of the previous dramatic tension has left. I have time to play again. I recently started back working with unity now that I have time. I’ve been making a mobile game that’s exactly what I want. I’ve gotten to the point I can actually see myself putting it out for download eventually. I have no expectation of monetary return. I won’t even try. No ads, no microtransactions none of that, just a look what I did kind of thing.

So I guess I can say my new year goals are to just keep on doing what I do because I enjoy it.

Happy new year everyone !

Given the 2020 we just had, 2021 should be better… hopefully.

Happy new year all!

Can’t believe we made it! 2020 is finally over !!!

Happy new year indeed, my main goal this year is to go from 225 to 170 pounds and acquire a 22 year old slim pretty girl friend who is hot enough to be a model. I expect it to end up as a massive fail, but will give it my all.

Cheers
