Hello,
I am in the process of developing my first mobile application using Unity 5.5.0, I have sent out the application to a handful of people and one tester came back with an error.
The user is using a Sony Xperia M5 and has encountered the error ‘Hardware is not supported by this application’. I did some research into this and understand that Unity only supports x86 and ARMv7 devices with NEON instructions. The Sony Xperia M5 is a ARMv7 device with NEON support and still encounters this error.
Since I am new to Unity, I wondered whether there was something wrong with the application i built, So I sent a blank fresh unity project with just a 3D cube on the scene and the error was still the same.
The user is also on android version 6 and hasn’t seen this error on apps they have downloaded previously.
I did a little more digging on some of the biggest releases on the play store and found out that ‘Stack’, a big hit on the play store, was developed using unity. After asking my tester to download it, they downloaded and were able to run/play this app without problems. (Obviously I don’t know if Stack was made with Unity 4/5 however with the trailer being released in mid february 2016 I would presume, Unity 5).
Can anyone give some insight into what else might be causing this issue or how to get around it, I am worried that many other devices might have a similar issue even if they are inside the ‘86 and ARMv7 devices with NEON instructions’ bracket.
Thanks,
