Has anyone tried running Unity on a Raspberry Pi or similar mini PC?

Hey fellow developers,

I’ve been toying with the idea of running Unity on a Raspberry Pi or a similar mini PC for a project I’m working on. Before I dive into it, I wanted to reach out to this community and see if anyone has already attempted this and could share their experiences.

If you’ve had any experience with this or have heard about someone else attempting it, please share your insights. I’m excited to explore the potential of using these affordable and compact devices for Unity development, and I believe your input can be invaluable in guiding my efforts.

Thanks in advance for any information or advice you can provide!

Using Windows on ARM and the latest beta/alpha you can get native build to run (report any bugs you find, they are probably out there)
I’ve heard people on the forums do this successfully, as long as you use IL2CPP instead of mono.

You cannot get it to run on linux arm, unless you buy the embedded platform support from Unity. (Linux ARM is now on the roadmap, so if you want that, vote there)

Checking back in on this in 2024/2025. What are the best options for a Unity app running on a stand-alone device for an installation? I’m thinking of a Raspberry Pi 5 or some kind of Android device. I’d like to avoid a PC or Mac because of all the updates and settings one would have to disable. Ideally, I’d just like a kiosk-type computer that never needs an update, never connects to the internet and is easily replaceable.

For Android it’s straightforward. For Linux use a x86 board
