Have you played this game

This game was made with Unity, it’s still in Alpha. But boy - it has sucked the life away from me the past couple weeks. over 200+ hours already into it lol.

It’s called Empyrion: Galactic Survival.
It’s not supposed to be a Space Engineers clone, in fact it’s completely different and is more in terms of survival - not engineering.

I for the life of man just can’t enjoy Space Engineers because they gotta make just building such simple things - extremely complicated.

Granted keep in mind Empyrion is still in Alpha, it’s still very enjoyable despite all it’s quirks of being in Alpha.
I highly recommend it, everyone here who knows me - I don’t ever really even play games anymore because I hate the way games have went (at least with AAA) games, but this is an Indie game, in fact I don’t even really play Indie games either because most are just crap - hard to find that jewl in the sea of garbage.

Empyrion is pretty laid back actually, the only problem is - unless this new update (this morning) changed anything the AI - Especially TURRETS - ARE SO FREAKING OP WITH HEALTH. lol.

But the game is pretty fun, I genuinely enjoy this game.

have any of you guys played it? Or are you playing it now at all? If so - I am always in Oblivion server that has the big starter packs.

Here’s the link if you’re interested in checking it out.

P.S. → I IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM → REPRESENT THIS GAME ON AN OFFICIAL CAPACITY.
I just strictly enjoyed it and noticed it was a game made with Unity.

I saw the adverts, but honeslty I already tried Space Engineers (found it to be half-assed, editing is cumbersome), Planet Explorers (wandering around is fun, voxel editor is fun, everything else is not fun), and wasn’t very interested in checking one more “Space crafting”. Oh, and I’m also a “proud” owner of “StarForge”.

I’d be interested if they had customizeable avatars and players clothes, and preferably without “dig for oxygen with your teeth or die” stuff, and without nonsensical tech trees like the ones in Planet Explorers.

Eh well in this game it’s really not a lot of digging surprisingly. Well I mean at first yeah it’s a constant grind. But if you can sit (for example) 2 days playing 10 hours each day. You’ll be good to just go explore, fight other players, etc. Now of course you run out of things (obviously). But you don’t actually have to mine for anything technically. You can tear apart enemy bases and use that for your ships, etc.

But it’s nothing like Space Engineers, it’s as mentioned pretty laid back. I mean I get what you’re saying though… I’m not generally a fan of survival games my self, but this one idk, I just really like this one.

Just figured I’d let everyone know about it encase they didn’t.

But I’m off to bed, talk to you guys later!

I can barely tolerate games that make me wait over an hour to get to the meat of the content, let alone twenty.

Basically every Survival game has issues - the 3d ones are especially bad and the 2d ones usually seem to be much more lighthearted and fun. The survival genre is littered with failures.

Space Engineers was fun a long time ago, then it got really bloaty and cumbersome to play.
StarForge was always a failure.
Rokh is clunky and crashes all the time.
Star Citizen is never going to get finished and runs like crap even on the lowest settings.
Ark is cancer.
Rust is diabetes.

Factorio and Don’t Starve Together are the only two surivival games I can think of that I haven’t been disappointed in.

If you’re making a 3d survival game these days I think you basically need to understand that people will automatically assume that your game will never get finished because that’s basically the track record for the last 7 years. Is Emphyrion good? I don’t know, and I don’t care. Release the game and maybe I’ll consider checking it out, until then I’ll hold on to my plate of disappointment and regret.

It is not about digging, but more about nonsensical situations where first you start digging for oxygen, and then somehow end up with golden axes which are stronger than iron ones.

Planet Explorers did an absolutely idiotic thing with their crafting system, where you start with basic materials, but then get absolutely arbitrary component tree which can’t be automated.
For example click through components here:
https://planetexplorers.gamepedia.com/Controlled_Turret
The problem is if you have enough components to build through this, you can’t just ask the game to build the damn turret (meaning you click on the turret, and let it build required components one by one), you have to manually click required components in turns by yourself. Gets really annoying over time.

Sounds like not my kind of thing. I love automation and so far I haven’t seen a survival game capable of providing automation on the level of X3, for example. In this game you could, for example, steal enemy ship, install AI into it, and then make it scout universe for you remotely, or just trade things between stations for profit. So you started as a space taxi, and ended up as a spaceoverlord with remotely controlled fleets of capital ships.

Minecraft started a really bad tradition of making player do the busywork stuff one cube at a time, IMO. Dwarf fortress, for example, allowed you to make blueprints of the whole fortress and let the dwarves build it.

Yeah that’s what I hated about SE, empyrion you don’t have to build everything piece by piece after maybe the first 30 mins of playing one you can get better constructor. This is a big reason I like empyrion, build the stuff for me, blocks just instant place no welding crap lol. Again I get what you mean though not a fan of most survival games, this one I just have a chance to and personally liked it.
