Having real issues with approval process... :-(

So, I just thought I’d post a little note (read “rant”) about my most recent experiences with my submission with Vertigo.

The game had been in submission for 11 days when I got an email from Apple saying, “we’re sorry to say that your file has been corrupted by our server - could you please upload a new binary, and we will expedite your review”.

So I’m thinking, “nightmare! Ok, though - I’ll upload it immediately”, so I did, and returned the email they’d requested to inform them of the upload within 15 minutes of them sending the first message.

I’m then expecting approval within a few days - as we all know Apple QA don’t test for bugs, so assuming the review WAS being expedited, my game should be out pretty quick.

Then, on Sunday (4 days later), I get an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT email saying, “thanks, we’ll let you know of any further issues”. I’m sorry, 4DAYS? what happened to the “expedite” part???

So more time passes. It’s now Wednesday morning, and I get an email saying, “We’re sorry, but we can’t approve Vertigo as it contains specific pricing information in the app description”. What it actually says is, “limited sale! Now 50% off!” which I’ve seen on maybe a thousand other apps.

I’m really unhappy about this - it’s now been 2.5 weeks, and they’re really messing me about. I’ve dealt with SONY, MicroSoft, Sega and Nintendo, and never had these hassles - I’m staggered that Apple are being so amateurish!

Sorry about that- rant over.

Strangely enough I had this same email from them yesterday, on an app update that had existing “On Sale” text.

My recommendation to anyone with any monetary text in their description or icon is to remove it from the description when you upload either a new app or update.

I can understand specifiying currency in descriptions that are multi-territory, but it’s a bit pedantic to pull you up on a general notice that doesn’t mention currency.
