So, I downloaded and installed it, but when I try to launch the program, it says “Failed to initialize 3D graphics” and under that “Details: Failed to create master direct3D window”.
I have absolutely no idea what to do to get it working, could someone please help me out?
I wish I didn’t have to bump this thread…but I still need some help, which I doubt I would get if this thread went to the second page in the lists…
Can you run any 3D games?
It sounds like a driver problem to me.
I don’t know, because Ive never tried to play any 3D games on my computer.
then try to, perhaps your system just has no realistic 3d acceleration or has it disabled and thus can not use 3d creation tools either
I ran the DirectX Diagnostic tool, and it says that I have Direct 3D Acceleration enabled and that it’s working…for the driver, here is the information the diagnostics gave me (I have no idea if it is adequate enough or not)…
Main Driver:ati2dvaa.dll
Version:6.13.0010.5019 (english)
Date:8/4/2004 00:56:42
WHQL Logo’d:Yes
Mini VDD:ati2mtaa.sys
VDD:n/a
DDI Version:8
Could you suggest a 3D game that I should try?
your driver is from 2004, it does not even have directx9 support so it can impossibly run unity.
you will need to update the driver, assuming you can update it, cause if you have a 2004 driver I would expect that your graphic card is totally incapable to handle it anyway
Ok, thank you for your help. (though the Diagnostic said I did have DirectX 9)
if all else fails go to the directx site and install the latest sdk and test
my cousin had the same problem. Your computer just sucks. Grab a 300 dollar computer thats like 1gig and you will be good to go. Not worth the battle deealing with dinosaurs there is a reason they are extinct. But of course a terrible integrated graphics card with like 8 mbs of video memory could also perhaps be the problem.
Did some research after looking at the ati list again for your driver, this might mean you really do need to go to Microcenter or CompUSA or some place to get a $30 replacement card:
That is a driver for the:
Rage 128/Rage 128 PRO
Oui, that thing had like 128 megs of vram, go grab new card.
I think you actually have the latest driver for that card.
I doubt you will get Unity to run on it as is.
I am running it on a netbook no problem, and that net book has XP.
yeah but even the worst netbook is 4-5 generations ahead of this.
ATI Rage were pre shader gpus basically, competing against NVIDIA TNT and GeForce 1 cards a decade ago.
The Rage 128 was just a refreshment with more VRAM
Had one of the original ATI Rage cards on my Pentium 2 400mhz or alike when I remember right, a while after the 3DFX voodoo days, which back then had to be run on beta drivers you had to get from dubious mags to work with opengl (cause the driver ran horrible in Q2 / Q3) and stuff like that hehe ![]()
I play 3d games all the time but I get that error to.
