HDRP Terrain turns black when adding 5th layer

Hi all, been using the unity terrain system for a very long time. I’ve seen this issue before where more than 8 layers were added it would happen and on URP we would have to turn off “accurate g-buffer” to fix it in some cases.

Now it is happening on 2022.3.36f1 when I add a 5th layer which is no where close to the max 8. Removing the 5th layer fixes it back. I need 6 layers in total, and this EXACT setup worked fine on 2022.3.25… Any suggestions as to why/how to fix?
