So, some people who work with me in our “indie” studio have developed player models and rigged them in Cinema 4D R17, however, throughout days worth of research, we still have no idea how to get the rig into unity(we’re using unity 5), we were mainly wondering what format we should export it as, because as unity has obviously shown, OBJ’s don’t carry over rigs, and unity doesn’t use C4D’s we’ve watched a few videos and still have no clue what filetype to export as, so any help for what filetype to export a model with its rig(not animations though) will be great, so in advance for all the help, Thank you very much! -Laikos CED.Stu
This is a limitation of the obj file type - not Unity.
I’m not a c4d user - but the most common file that supports mesh, animation, rigs, and textures is fbx.
Suggest using that format. If c4d doesn’t support fbx out of the box - look around for a fbx exporter plug-in.
Yes, I knew that obj’s never carried over rigs in the first place, but thanks for the help, I’ll try that when I next get on unity so if it doesn’t work ill get back to you - Laikos CED.Stu
