first of alle i want to say hi and sorry for bad english…
Since 10 years i got ideas for my own video game. And finally with Unity Engine and the ORK Framework (Got no time to learn a whole script language) i’ve managed to create some little 3D games. My problem is:
I can have concepts. I can have ideas. I can have my gameplay and battle system. BUT:
I don’t have the time to learn that skill for 3D modelling. I have tried to modell one character in Blender but only found out that i can do this with makehuman in 5 minutes. Then i tried to get some clothes on this figure but i needed 3 hours for one t-shirt. without any details ore textures, animations or sth. like that.
Now there are 3 Options:
Buy all the meshes but this is too expensive.
Buy Software that makes it simplier to create my own characters and clothes. sounds nice, but hell, there are expensive ones too. (Speedtree for example looks like a very good solution for environmental design)
Buy people who design my models - XD
no seriously: I don’t have enough lifetime left to learn the whole 3D design thing in blender. Cause i don’t earn money for it. SO what are the cheapest and best alternatives to create characters/clothes/environment, and have all that animated in unity?
That’s all at first. Hope you can help me and sorry if i posted that in the wrong direction.
PS: I know it can last 3 years for a single person to create all this 3d stuff. But if i have to learn it from scratch i will be working on this in 10 years and that’s not my goal. There has to be a solution for this Speedtree proved that there are alternatives for building a tree in 6 hours.
Ok I have already discovered the iClone Character Creator. This One is totally fine (but expensive). And Clothes i think i have to create in the Marvelous Design? But it’s expensive too and the both programs don’t work together extremly well… Someone already used them?
Okay:
My suggestion would be, in your spare time, to learn some 3d modelling.
Try learning to make, some small simple objects.
Eg. Make Diglett from pokemon etc. He’s a simple object.
And don’t worry, it doesn’t take a long time to learn 3d modelling.
Also, most people who use makehuman, daz studio and other character creation software, have some 3d modelling experience. It goes hand in hand.
Because there will be times, when you might need to make an object for your character, that you can’t find on the net. Or find/hire someone to make one.
