Help me in recruiting for my indie mobile games company

I am in process of hiring people for my indie mobile games ( android OS ) making company

What jobs title and skills should I hire for my company to get started?

I am right now planning to hire 4-5 people.

1- Project manager
2-Android programmer
3- 3d Graphist
4- 2d Graphist

for Sounds and Music I am planning to hire freelancers and I work base on projects with them but I am planning to hire full time employee for above titles.

The games that i am planning this team develope for my company, would be normal android games such as field runner, air attack …, Nothing fancy like Asphalt or EA sport games

What skills each job title need ? , I think 1-2 and 3 needs to be able to fully work with unity engine, Please advice me.

My .02 worth for your consideration:

I would ideally look for someone to do both 1 and 2 since there is likely going to be little overlap between the project management tasks and the programming. IOW, until you have multiple games going the lead developer should be doing PM stuff while you are getting setup, and then coding once the task(s) are lined up.

Similarly, I’m not sure you need two graphic artists if you are going to do one project at a time. It is often the case you will have a character artist and someone else do the level or background art, but if you’re starting out small there’s no reason not to try and get by with just one who starts on one of these and goes to the other. Particularly since if you’re not doing anything fancy you may not have that many fully articulated characters anyway.

For sounds and music I would say you’re probably ok with freelance, but keep in mind that if you do have a hit you may want to have them available for quicker response. So write something up with flexibility.

In terms of skills, 1 and 2 (particularly if combined) should have Unity experience and some Android experience. For the graphic artist it is nice if they’ve created assets for unity before, but your programmer can probably work with whatever art they come up with as long as you’re not doing a lot of IK animation.

Hope this helps…

You don’t really need a project manager for such a small team.

I would try and hire 1 artist that has both 2D and 3D skills. Remember to look at portfolios and get references.
One programmer is needed.

Outsourcing sound/audio is a good move when you are at such a small size.

Good luck.
