hi everyone i am making a game and its an mmo rpg. i know a lot of work but this was some thing i started 7 yrs ago and im only 16 yeah i had books filled with ideas as a child and now i found unity3d and blender and now i have a way to make my dream come true! this game has a lot already done okay not a lot lol but still some stuff lots of weapons and a big map and LOTS of ideas!
i just need an amazing scripter who can make these ideas work
for example, uhm lets say ur fishing and u catch a shrimp. its 2 xp for ur fishing stat i want that to actually add to ur fishing xp and and then wen u get to the next lv it actually upgrades! or like if u have a knife and a log for crafting u want to make a bucket. click knife then log then the log disappears and a bucket is there u know what i mean? pleas please help this game will be good if we work on it i promise! i just need a lot of help!
If this project means a lot to you, then you shouldn’t rush. Take your time, make it right. You want to try to attract a scripter to your project, so put forth your best effort to try to convince them that your project is worth it.
A little while back I was kinda in your position. I had a huge pile of ideas for a game I’ve been trying to make for years and years. Not only that but I’d composed music for it, drawn concept art, backgrounds, textures, 3D models and more. However all I needed was the script to tie it all together.
But the thing is, this is my dream game, and I thought to myself, after all these years why stop here? Why compromise? On top of that, because it’s my dream game and brainchild, chances are that nobody else is going to want to dedicate any significant portion of their time to creating it, not unless I somehow manage to spawn fistfuls of cash from my arse anyhow.
So I learnt scripting. I’m still learning it, but I’ve actually got something underway which is turning out better than I’d hoped. But the best thing is that it’s all my own work. There’s nothing in it which I haven’t made and in a way I reckon that makes it all the more special.
So my advice is, if you’ve waited seven years already, spend a bit longer learning scripting. You’ll be glad you did.
Im sorry if I sound harsh, but if this is your first game you’ve tried to make, it should not be an online MMO RPG.
Unless you do spend time actively learning to code, as well as broadening your skills in general 3D crafts, and have a team already assembled and keen to build this with you - an MMO RPG is just too big to complete to any level of satisfaction that will make you happy about the end product.
If this is your dream project, remember to start small, make some protoypes, proof some concepts that will attract more attention and a team to you and then give it a go!
I dont think you should stop wanting to make this rpg of yours, I can just give you the advice of learning to walk before you run…
yep it will take time and you will fall over, but speaking from an ‘artist learning code’ point of view, it is more rewarding and more effective in the long run.
PS - one good thing about learning scripting - is that it is free, and you’re young so you have heaps of time to get into it!
