I have encountered a serious problem with my copy of Unity3d Pro. I’m am suddenly unable to adjust Offset and Tiling paramaters for any and all textures. It is not project related since I tested it in a new project. I also tested it on my laptop which has an Indie License to see if I was doing something wrong but it worked perfectly.
I also deleted the Unity folder from my applications and installed it again, to no avail.
Can anybody tell me if this is a known issue and/or if there are certain preference files (which may have been corrupted) that I can delete to help with my problem? I have a presentation on wednesday and I’m stressing out at this point.
No known problem, do also not have the problem here.
What hardware do you have on the system? perhaps driver related or something.
Is there an error message in the debug log and especially in the system log for the editor client?
PowerPC G5
1.8 GHz
3 GB
ATI Radeon 9800XT 256mb
OS X 10.5.6
But the problem didn’t occur until halfway a project when I upgraded to pro.
There is a message in the log when I try to change the paramaters, which seems to be related (not being much of a coder)

Are you absolutely certain that the only thing you did was upgrade to Pro? You made no other changes at all? I ask that as I highly doubt that upgrading to Pro would ever cause breakage like this so my immediately suspected cause is something else that you may have done to trigger this (sorry ).
Did you create a plugin that is capable of interfering or an editor wizard / gadget which tries to hook in there?
I agree with you (HiggyB) wholeheartedly. I didn’t really suspect the upgrade, but it coincided with it. I can’t say I haven’t done ANYTHING in the meantime, but I haven’t been messing around in any system/prefs files.
Is there any way do a ‘really’ good clean-up and reinstall? Do I need to check any shared assets or scripts that are not in the Unity applications folder?
Thanks
I deleted my prefs and installed again.
Still no luck
When I click the Placement button in the Editor → Material, I get this message in the Editor.log:
[NSCFString characterAtIndex:]: Range or index out of bounds
Could anybody help me please!!!
I still haven’t found a solution for this problem. I don’t understand why it is happening and why deleting my prefs and re-installing isn’t enough. How is this possible? I haven’t been able to adjust any Tiling options for about week now and it’s impossible to do any kind of Texture Scaling or Decal Texturing now.
Very sad and frustrated Mark
Sorry, please hang in there as we’re dealing with the deluge of contact from launching Unity 2.5. I’ll give this some brain cycles later today.
Thanks. In the meantime i’ll try a fresh OSX install and 2.5!
Okay. After 4 hours of installing OSX again + all updates. Re-installing all of my core programs, reserializing. Installing and updating tablet, printer and other drivers. Searching my old system folder for my Mail (which I hadn’t backed up) and so forth. And finally installing Unity3d…
It still doesn’t work!
Hahaha… just kidding. No more texture problems. And the 2.5 looks GREAT!!! Thanks guys, for making my life a bit easier. Kudos
Mark
I have the same problem!
Ok, if I create a sphere, the materials are working correctly;
If I import a mesh, and I create a material, then use the tile options, nothing change at all.
Whatever Shader I use, the preview display the correct result but the material does not apply any changes on the model itself…
I use PRO 2.5 on Windows XP.
I’m stuck…
Hi fellow Uniteers!
Same thing here (sort of). The properties for the shaders in the material inspector doesn’t show any properties at all (both when I create a new material and when I inspect an existing one). This happens only in the Mac installation. The PC version seems correct (sigh). I’m attaching a screenshot to illustrate my problem. I’m using Unity 2.5 Indie on a MacBook Pro w/ 2.16GHz Intel C2D, ATI Radeon X1600, 2GB RAM, and OS 10.5.6. Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Mauricio
Click on the Material in the Inspector to expand the rest of the properties.
This has gotten me a few times. There’s no affordance (visual indication that something can be done: no expander arrow, no finger rollover-cursor-change).
It’d be nice for new users if this can be changed.
Ooops.
Still getting the hang of it. Not exactly the most intuitive way to get to the properties though… My bad anyway. Thanks!
