i could really use some help makeing a cartoony character in untiy but i dont know how so i could use some help if anyone is interested:face_with_spiral_eyes:
First, you should probably start with a sketch on paper.
Flesh it out with your art program of choice. Mine is Illustrator, sometimes Photoshop. But alternatively, there is also some open source options like Gimp and Inkscape which do a real decent job.
Depending on what you are going for you can use your 2d version as a sprite. Or spend some time 3d modeling if that hits your fancy.
Do a bit of research on importing some game objects into Unity. ā http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/Components/comp-AssetsGroup.html
Keep at it and good luck!
Unity isnāt a modeling tool; You wouldnāt use Unity to make your cartoon character. You would use some modeling software like Blender or 3DS Max if itās 3D, or photoshop/Illustrator for a 2D sprite.
I would be interested in helping, they are right though you can use sketch-up and or blender. but I donāt know much either so If you know the āropesā around unity that would be very helpful.
If you have Skype My name would be : HellSorcerer16
Thanks?
Iām sorry but its not sketch-up its Scratch. this engine is like a kiddy unity. I have started with this but I now would like to upgrade. what I mean by this is that I would like to use something more challenging. Unity.
But the reason I mentioned Scratch is because you can edit āspritesā or even make your own. but its not about making your āspriteā and then keeping them in the Scratch engine. You can import āspritesā into unity. but unfortunately you can only make 2D āspriteā.
You canāt make characters in Unity. Unity is for making games. You can make characters in Blender, Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, Lightwave, Modo, etc. However Unity is for games only.
OH so you are suddenly an āexpertā! Amazing!
LOL no I have known this for a whileā¦
LOL I have known to program for a whileā¦
Iām sure you also know too! Oh waitā¦
Seems like Iāve opened quite a few threads lately with people asking for people to contact them through Skype⦠Is this the next phase of the appliance salesmanās plan to indoctrinate the unity3d community?
Iām not sure what you mean by this. Sprites are 2D by definition. If you want something 3D itās not a āspriteā.
I think heās being redundant and it was supposed to be ā⦠unfortunately you can only make 2D; aka āspriteā.ā Thatās why he put quotes around sprite. Perhaps not.
Play nice.
